What is kuafaj?
It is applied in cases where the pulp (the part of the tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are located) is exposed from a very small spot or the protective tissue on it is very thin during the treatment of deep caries. Before the filling materials are placed in the tooth, tissue-friendly and healing materials are used to protect the pulp.
Who can be applied to the kuafaj?
Patients whose pulp has not lost its vitality
Patients with oral hygiene
If there is no part of the exposed nerve tissue affected by caries
If the exposed nerve tissue is too small
Patients with more than one exposed nerve tissue
For patients without diabetes
Patients who do not have a systemic blood disease (Leukemia, Hemophilia,…)
Patients who do not have a metabolism disorder that impairs blood circulation.
What is an amputation?
In cases where the pulp tissue is exposed due to trauma or caries, the pulp (coronal pulp) tissue in the visible part of the tooth is removed and the living pulp tissue in the root canals is left.
Who can amputation be applied to?
The pulp should not have lost its vitality.
Oral hygiene should be.
There should be no infection in the pulp.
The patient should not have diabetes.
The patient should not have a systemic blood disease (Leukemia, Hemophilia, …)
The patient should not have a metabolic disorder that impairs blood circulation.
What is root canal treatment?
It is the process of removing the pulp tissue and filling the channels where the nerves are with filling materials compatible with the body in cases where dental caries has progressed to the part of the tooth, which we call pulp, where the nerves and blood vessels are located.
When is root canal treatment done?
In cases where the caries has progressed to the pulp chamber where the nerves are located
If there is severe pain in the tooth despite pulp capping or amputation
If there is a fracture in the tooth that causes the nerves to be exposed
In case the nerves are exposed during cutting in the teeth to be crowned
If inflammation has started in the nerve tissue of the tooth
In case of inflammation at the root tip of the tooth
How long does the root canal treatment take?
Although the treatment can be completed in a single session, it usually takes 2-3 sessions. However, inflammation in the tooth affects the treatment process.
Is root canal treatment a painful procedure?
In the teeth that need root canal treatment, there is severe pain that wakes you up at night, starts spontaneously, is long-lasting and is felt when the tooth is touched. The treatment is done by locally numbing the tooth and the patient does not feel pain during the procedure. The pain may be mild for the first few days of treatment. A tooth that has undergone root canal treatment should not be in pain again later.
Is the use of antibiotics necessary?
It is not necessary to use antibiotics in every tooth for which root canal treatment will be performed. If there is an infection in the tooth and the drainage of the abscess cannot be achieved adequately, an antibiotic recommended by the doctor can be used.
What are the causes of discoloration in teeth that underwent root canal treatment?
Can the discoloration of the tooth be removed after root canal treatment?
Coloring can be removed with bleaching agents placed in the canal. In such cases, it is the cause of the discoloration that determines the process. In order for devital bleaching to be performed, root canal treatment must be done successfully.
